What is a polite question to ask a Muslim, to ID whether he is on the fundamentalist end of the spectrum?

Looking to crack the code, to evade possible deception as to whether one is enamored of political Islam. Would be nice to ID a similar question to ask about a reformist attitude, if indeed any Muslims will admit to that.
