How many paintball guns can you have at a paintball tournament/game?

I have seen people holding a paintball pistol and a paintball in some games(youtube vids didn't go to an actual game) and was wondering can you have a pump gun(for like long range sniping and to conserve ammo) and carry a semi gun( for close quarters combat) at the same time?
